What is GRE?
The GRE is an abbreviation of the Graduate Record Examination. It is a testing system that most international universities adapt to assess a student’s potential for higher academic pursuits, advanced studies and research. The GRE is now available as a computer-based test and is conducted on continuous basic throughout the year. In those area of the world where computer based testing is not available; the test is administered in a paper based format up to three times a year in February, October and November.
There are two types of GRE test such as GRE General Test and GRE Subject Test. In short those who want to study higher education in abroad need to take GRE General Test and those who want to study PhD or MS and planning to shift the field of study, need to take GRE Subject Test. The GRE Test is available at more than 1,000 test centers in more than 150 countries.
The total GRE Score is 340 and is scale between 130 to 170. Financial aid is provided to GRE applicants who prove economic hardship. Other than that the fee for the examination is nearly (INR)₹ 12,000. The GRE scores are good up till five years of taking the examination. A student can take the GRE on time in every 21 days, but a student cannot take the GRE more than five times in 12 months.
